Away Too Long
Well, it has been forever since I have posted here and a lot has happened.
SYNERGY
David's company in Bedford was bought out by a very large nationwide corporation for something like 75 million dollars. There were to be 1.4 million dollars in "synergies" as the companies moved. That translates to people loosing their jobs. Well, at the end of September, David was "synergized" and lost his job.
GOD IS GOOD
Even before this unfortunate event, we were looking at ways we might be able to get back closer to East Texas or even Bossier City to be nearer our family and support system. David had applied a few places and we were even prepared to move in with my parents if necessary. But since God always has the plan as it turns out, we didn't have to flop at the 'rents house. David's parents needed some help at their company and were able to provide him with a job in LONGVIEW!!
MOVE IN 1 WEEK
After David was let go, we went out to dinner and he informed me that we were going to be trying to move in about a week to avoid having to pay another months rent. I told him, "You are crazy, It cannot happen" How wrong was I? More evidence that this was God's plan, David found a house for rent on Craig's list of all places and we scheduled to see it on a Friday, the house was wonderful and they landlords are super easy going. They rented to us the same day and didnt even charge us a pet deposit (woohoo). Also, Mom happened to be on break from school and was able to come help me pack the house. It went so fast. David lost his job on a Wednesday and we were in our new house the following Saturday all totaled, 10 days!
EMILY'S BIRTHDAY
Because we got to come back to Longview, Emily was able to celebrate her birthday with all of her friends and family. It was a great party and a great way to keep me motivated on the unpacking.
HOME FOR NOW
Emily and I are at home right now. I have been unpacking and we only have a few more boxes and the office to set up. We are so happy to be back in Longview with our family and our church friends. I am goig to start subbing in January and will hopefully land that first teaching job for the fall.

Working on getting work-Church/School Hunting-Lydia Pinkham-New Friends/Old Friends
Working…on getting work
I have been away from the blog for far too long. Here is the latest. Every single day I apply for jobs at schools in
the area. I submit my application via
the district website as is the procedure.
A couple times a week I get notes from one or more schools telling me
the positions have been filled or closed.
To say I am frustrated would be the understatement of the century. I am so ready to get to work and be in a school,
it is not even funny. After so many
weeks of this nonsense, I decided to try a different tack. I put together the most beautiful resume and
cover letter packet anyone has ever seen.
I was in a snazzy red folder and was mailed in a large catalogue envelope
(The better to stand out on the desk). I
mailed my packet directly to the principals of the schools I am interested in
working for. That was last week. Today I began my follow up calls hoping to
score an interview. Guess what? Schools
take the month of July off apparently because all I got was a whole bunch of
voicemail boxes, but I left a message anyway (squeaky wheel and all).
I have been approved to substitute teach at three different
school districts which will hopefully get my foot in the door if I do not get a
full time assignment this year. I’m just ready to get my career started.
We have also been trying to narrow down schools for Miss
Emily. We have narrowed it down to the
Episcopal school and a really good daycare type school. I am leaning toward the Episcopal
school. It just seems to be a better fit
for us. We’ll see.
Lydia Pinkham
David and I and especially Emily are ready to have a little
brother or sister in the house. To that end we visited the fertility clinic a
few months ago…can you say STICKER SHOCK.
It would cost me $1800/month for the most basic of fertility
treatments. Needless to say that is off
the table till I find full time employment!
My friend called me and told me about an old herbal supplement called
Lydia Pinkham that was used in the 1800s to help women regulate ovulation and cycles
it costs about $13.00; think I will try that instead. I’ll keep you posted J
New Friends/Old Friends
I have been kind of lonely here in Euless because we have
not found a church and a core group of friends, but God is so good all the time. I have a wonderful neighbor across the street
that is so sweet and we have become friends.
Emily and I met the very nice little girl Kayla and her mom Crystal at
the park and we now have a standing Tuesday play date. I have really enjoyed
getting to know her and Emily and Kayla are like peas in a pod.
My friend Donna just moved here from Longview and I am so excited
about all the fun things we will be doing together. Also, my friend Melissa who I was in church
youth group with has moved to the area and has leased a house ten minutes from
me. WOOHOO. God has blessed me with new friends and brought
me old friends. And lucky me, many of my
favorite people have come to visit me this month. I have had my friend Cindy from Texarkana, my
friend Melissa stayed over, Andrea and Tonya are coming next week and my parents,
sister and Kim are coming at the end of the month.
Now that I have written all this down, I see how very
blessed I really am.

I'm Searching...and I haven't found it yet
What I am Searching for?
Settling in continues…but, I miss my family, my church and my friends. We are searching for our church home so Last week we visited the Episcopal church in Keller.It was a perfectly nice church with nice enough people, but it did not feel like home. We met some people and I am sure
it is a perfectly nice place, but I wasn’t feeling it. This week we visited First Baptist Euless (aka Six Flags over Jesus). It is a huge church with 1700 people in a service. They have state
of the art childrens programs and Sunday school. There is multimedia display, huge choir, and
a brass section in the worship team. It was too big and too loud. There were a couple of baptisms and there was no audience participation. I am not sure what I am searching for. I really just want the same church I had at Trinity. I keep looking for my Donna, Christy, and Ann. Where is my wonderful priest with his short, but impactful message? Where are my communion wafer and confession with the congregation? None of that was present here.
I know God has the right church for our family, but as usual I am impatient. Patience is one lesson that I seem to need to learn over and over and over again…
In other news…
We finally got the books all unpacked. We are big readers. Next step is to purchase another storage building for all the items that were in the old garage. I passed my first test for teaching certification and I take my final test next Saturday. I am looking forward to getting that out of the way. My friend who works in the Irving ISD was kind enough to pass my resume on to her principal. I hope there is a spot for me in the fall. I am ready to teach!!

Adventures in our new House
Greetings and Happy Valentines Day to all...
We had some new adventures in our house today.
First, we used our fire place yesterday and today our house was smelling very camp firery. I tried to close the flu, floo, flew??? That did not work. After dinner, David worked on it and the whole front frame came off. He repaired it and vacuumed all the ash and burnt wood out. Guess we wont be having any more cozy fires till we get some gas logs in there and have the floo looked at.
The pool people came out an removed all the leaves from the bottom of our pool. It looks more like a pool and less like a lagoon now. We decided to turn on the light and have a look after dinner. The doggies ran into the fenced pool area to have a look around. I called them all back and Sophie decided to jump/fall into the pool. Thank goodness doggies can swim. David ran around and helped Sophie out of the pool. She was quite a quiver after her unexpected swim.
Our sweet Valentine had flowers and chocolates for his girls this morning. The best Valentines day present is just being together. Progress continues on emptying boxes. I got the guest room all cleaned out and ready for our visitors this weekend. After moving the moutain of book boxes to the back room, I am beginning to wonder if I want any of them. The library is looking better and better.
Tomorrow is going to be beautiful and we are going to go and run off some steam at the park.

Getting Settled...Noises a house makes
Hi Everyone,
Getting Settled:
This is my first post from Canyon Ridge Drive. I wonder if I should change the name of the blog? When I started and titled the blog, I didn't know I would be moving...Maybe the next blog will not be titled around location.
We moved in officially last weekend with the help of many angels. Thanks to you all..
This weekend we had to go back and get yet another load of stuff. We will be getting rid of lots..
I am all settled in the kitchen and I love it. It's cozy and warm. much more friendly than my old one because people can sit and visit with me while I cook. So nice...
Speaking of cooking, I have been trying to send David off with a good breakfast most days and have tried to some cooking. I am going to keep going, but I have to unpack my cookbooks first. Not sure where they will end up.
Noises:
This house has lots of noises. The heater has a squeaky sound, the shower makes a whiney sound, and the dryer makes some kind of squeaky noise too. I am sure there were all kinds of sounds at the old house, but I guess I just got used to them so they were not noticeable. It's cool how each house has a personality. When we went back to the old house today, it was so empty and it was clear that it wasn't our home anymore.
Test:
I scheduled one of my two tests for Feb 21st. I hope I do well, I am looking forward to getting these tests behind me so I can get a job!! I can't wait to get to working!!

Tickety Tock...Goes the Clock
Hi Everyone,
Well....the time is drawing very near. Each day is one day closer to our new home in Euless. Emily and I are surrounded by boxes in every room as we prepare to say farewell to Miami Drive.
David got the keys to the house and took a look around yesterday and I think he may even be getting excited about our move.
Emily is down to one box of toys and is looking forward to seeing all her things again. We are down to very few dishes in the kitchen. I have packed and packed and packed yet there is still more. I think I need to read some Henry David Thoreau and learn about simplify, simplify, simplify...We have too much stuff.
I am looking forward to making new friends and new memories with David and Emily. Emily and I have already set some goals. We are going to learn to cook and to exercise. She is very excited to go to tumble school when she gets to the new place.
Moving day is Saturday and we are going to be ready. So I had better get back to packing.
