Too busy
Too tired
On Spring Break
Computer crashed
Too Lazy
I guess that about covers the excuses on the blog, so I will just get you up to speed.
Work:
David appears to have the job that he interviewed for and only because God gave it to him. He was one of two and we thought he didn't get it, but the other person declined the position. We don't mind being their second choice, we are just happy that God worked it out for us. We are not used to dealing with large corporations and let me tell you, they move at a glacial pace. We are still waiting for a start date, but hope to know something by tomorrow.
School:
My studies continue and the classes are getting harder. I am currently taking "The teaching of Reading" and I have learned so much about how children learn and how our minds process concepts into words, words into letters, letters into sounds then back again. So interesting. I am also learning some alarming statistics. Did you know that approximately 40% of students across the nation cannot read at a basic level. I am gaining a new perspective on the importance of effective instruction for reading as it unlocks every door and every other subject.
I have applied to student teach and will actually be IN FRONT OF STUDENT (quaking with fear) in the fall. It has been a long journey, but I can see the end and I am excited.
Emily:
Still a joy each day, although her two's are showing for sure. She has clear opinions about what she wants to do and she expects us to comply. We are teaching her about manners and boundaries and how we are supposed to speak to people. Here is a picture of her from just before Ash Wednesday looking all innocent
Healthy Living:
I am trying to get in shape (a different one than i am now hehe) so my friend and I have been getting up and walking at 5am. We did three miles yesterday and today and I am really proud of myself. I hope to work up to running, but let's not get carried away.
Dog Woes:
Our doggies were at it again, you may recall that our two large dogs got in a fight almost a year ago and really hurt each other. I was not home at the time and came home to a horrible scene in my laundry room. Well, on Monday evening I was outside with Emily and my friend Michael enjoying the spring weather when pretty much all hell broke loose. Our rear neighbors have dogs that our dogs really do not like and they always come barking at the fence. Well our dogs raced to the back fence and comenced the barking. As is my practice, I called them back, but before I could get over there, they got all riled up and started fighting each other. It was HORRIBLE. They would not listen to me and I could not get them to stop until I finally turned the water hose on them. After hosing them down and kenneling them for the night, I took them to the vet and had them checked out. Tucker's wounds were superficial and did not require stitches, but Lucy has a fracture in her right front leg and is in a splint for the next six weeks. UGH. We spoke to our vet about the aggression and what we should do, and she said that since our dogs do not fight over food or toys and they are not aggressive to each other normally, she thinks we just had the perfect recipe for a dog fight with all the frustration from the dogs at the back fence and it just spilled over and got out of hand. So our solution for now is to erect a fence in that area to keep our dogs away from the ruckuss (sp) of the other dogs. And we will be taking our dogs out at a different time than our neighbors.
I am loving the beautiful weather, but I could live without the icky yellow pollen all over my cars, but when it rains it will all wash away. The Azalea bushes are blooming already and they are beautiful.
I think that is about all that is going on now, but I will try and not be so lax in my blogging.
Till next time.
