We got BAGGAGE
Apparently the Wilcox's are carrying a lot of baggage. Our trip is for a total of four days. As I mentioned earlier, when you travel with children, there seems to be need to over pack. Well overpack did we ever. Here is Emily before our trip sitting in David's suitcase. She made packing fun.

When all the packing was finished, this is what we were traveling with. This is at Union Station in Chicago.

The "On Time" Train
We arrived at the train station for our 6:15 train and waited, and waited, and waited...Apparently an on time train means somtime after 7:00pm we finally got underway.
Dinner
We enjoyed dinner on the train around 7:30 pm and then settled into our room for the night.
Night Night
After a few Clifford videos and some singing, Emily settled in to bed and then David and I tried to sleep on the "double bed" that was on the bottom of our room (I will post pictures of our room, but they are in the other camera). After a half hour or so, David could not take it any more, so up to the top bunk he went. I thought I would be better with just me sleeping in the bed, but alas I was wrong. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on. As soon as I would find a slightly comfortable position, the train would hit uneven track and jostle around as if an ape were on top shaking it from side to side. Sleep was illusive to say the least.
Breakfast and Scenery,
After our wonderfully restful night, Emily woke up around 6am and off to breakfast we headed. It was actually quite good and we enjoyed taking in the scenery. Here are some pics from the train.

We got some pictures of the St.Louis Arch, will post those later. We finally arrived into Chicago around 4pm, two hours after we were supposed to . Emily seemed to enjoy not being cooped up so much and the train was fun for her (She slept great). We met up with the family this morning for breakfast and enjoyed lots of memories and looking at old pictures together.
No matter how unbearable the sleep on the train, I am glad we made the trip and my family is together again. Tomorrow is the service and I know Marty will be looking down on us as we celebrate his wonderful life.
Till next time
I wish I would have come
ReplyDeleteRegardless of the comfort factor, it does seem like it was a lot of fun! Can't for you guys to get back!
