Saturday
The Dress:
As noted previously, my good friend Donna was coming over on Saturday to help me work on a dress pattern I bought. Remember, I barely know how to thread my machine, but I have made curtains and pillowcases, mostly square things with simple stitches. Donna arrived and we commenced with the sewing project. After cutting and marking the pattern we began to sew. First step, sew darts in the front. Easier said that done since I picked a slippery fabric. After re-doing one of the darts three times, we moved on to putting the front and back of the dress together. I thought it would be a good idea to try the dress on before we went to forward on the hard parts of neck and sleeves. Off to the bedroom I went, I slipped on the dress and.... I HATED it. The fabric I chose had a pattern and there was a seam right in the front of the dress and the pattern didn't match up. It was tight in all the wrong places and I just didn't like the crazy pattern all over. On the plus side, I learned more about my machine and got to spend some time with my friend Donna. I will use the fabric for something else I guess.
Park:
After nap, we met up with the Collins crew at the park. Emily had a great time swinging and playing with her friends. Supper was pizza from Dominoes, yummy!
Sunday
Church:
I had a terrible cough, tickle all night Saturday and wasn't sure if I would make it for church, but I powered through and went on to church with Emily. David had to head out earlier because he had to help out with Sunday school, usher and serve vestry duty.
Birthday Party:
After church it was off to Nana and Grand-dads for Caitlin's eleventh birthday celebration. David's dad cooked burgers and hotdogs and we enjoyed cake and icecream.
Late Night:
After Emily headed off to bed, David and I were reading out Kindle's and before we knew it, it was 1:30am. We finally went to bed. Crazy!
Monday
Breakfast with friends:
We met with our friends from Dallas, Peter and Cindy, at IHOP for breakfast. It was great catching up and visiting.
Off to the BBQ:
I made deviled eggs and German chocolate cake for the BBQ. After Emily woke from her nap, we headed to my aunt Tina's house in Bossier. We had a great time and the food was great. The company was even better. Emily loved looking at the horses and the dogs and kicking around the soccer ball with her cousin.
Well that was the weekend. Tomorrow it is off to school for Emily and catching up on housework for me. I also have to find a dress since mine didnt work out.
Till next time.
PS: the Cowboys season opener is this coming Sunday, not yesterday, my bad!
