Parenting Fail
Well, today I had a real parenting fail. I try and be a good mom, but sometimes, I just get it wrong. I have been blessed with a super kid and most of the time, she is a joy to behold. Other times, not so much.
Tonight we were having dinner and she was eating just fine. David had to step outside to show someone his car and she wanted to go out too. I told her no, she needed to eat her dinner. She hemmed and hawed and took tiny little bites of food she normally loves. Then, she gagged and spit up some of her food. I felt like she was doing it on purpose, so I cleaned her up and we continued our battle over eating. I told her, "If you choose to not eat your supper, you may go to bed now" As the words were coming out of my mouth, I realized how foolish I sounded and I remembered saying that I would never ever make my kids sit at the table forced to eat. Our battle continued and Emily ended her supper by expelling the entire contents of her stomach on the floor. EPIC FAIL...She had been saying to herself "stay down, don't come back up" I thought she was just being stubborn. I guess she showed me. After a nice bath, she settled down and is now on her way to bed. I feel bad for trying to make her eat and for letting my frustration get the better of me. But I guess I will listen next time she says she doesn't want to eat.
Brighter Days
Other times, I get it right. As I mentioned in my last post, I have been making paper dolls for Emily. I decided to laminate them and attach velcro circles. They came our perfectly and Emily just loves them. Here are some pictures of her dolls and her playing with them.

Sweet Emily playing with her new dolls. So happy here.
The dolls are 10.5 inches toll and I had such fun making clothes and hair for them.
Anyway, Lessons learned and moving on now.

Wow Tricha, those are really cool. You make them on the computer?
ReplyDeleteSorry about the upset with Em, we all get it wrong sometimes.
I made them with my Cricut machine. It is for scrapbooking and such. Lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks, re: Emily, I guess we all make mistakes. I know she knows I love her.
I texted with Ginger. Hope I can visit with her soon.
Love ya
