List Making
Last week, I decided to try and accomplish more during the day. The first step was to make a list each night of what I needed to get done the following day. I have this really cool page-a-day calendar that you can make a list on and tear it off to take with you. It incluces a word of the day and some other fun trivia to boot.. Last week, I had alot on my list. I needed to bathe the dogs, clean the house, do the laundry, grocery shop, work out, run errands, and pack for our trip. Well the list really worked. I got nearly all the things on my list completed. I am going to try it again this week and see what I can get accomplished. There are after all, few things better that crossing things off a list!
A Dog Shower:
As I mentioned above, bathing the dogs was on my list for this week. Our three doggies are not fond of the bath, but it had to be done. I woke up Wednesday morning and decided it was time. I got miss Lucy in the tub and she tolerated her bath quite well. Tucker was another story indeed. Mr. Tucker weighs about 85 pounds, he is a big boy. After I got him to stop pushing on the side of the tub with his giant paws, I was able to wrestle him into the tub. Of course the first thing he does is scoot all the way to the back of the tub so I can't reach him. After I get one side clean, I try and scoot him a bit closer to me so I can wash the other side, well he sees his opening and JUMPS out of the tub soaking wet and covered in soap! If that wasn't bad enough, on the way out of the tub his foot caught the shower sprayer and jerked it out of the tub. Picture it now, large wet, soapy dog running crazy in my bathroom and shower sprayer shooting water everywhere! Where was the camera when I needed it, my money worries would be over! I had to wrestle the big ole brute back into the tub and he let me finish his bath. If he didn't have such a sweet face, I would have been mad, but it really was funny. I finished dog baths with sweet Sophie who just looked all pitiful at me as if to say, "Mom, really why?"
Austin:
Thursday, David, Emily and I headed off for a weekend in Austin. We made good time and Emily did great in the car. She is ready for a cross country trip I am sure. She read her Clifford book on the way and only fussed a little bit. We arrived to Austin around 4:00 or so and after getting settled enjoyed a great supper with our friends, Glenda and Charles Patterson. They were so gracious to open their home to us. On Friday we headed to the state capital which is a beautiful building. We took the tour, visited the gift shop and had a great time. After lunch at a cafe, it was back home for nap time. Friday night the Varnells arrived and the Pattersons had a full house. On Saturday, we headed to South Congress for some pie and shopping, then it was off to Whole Foods. I am so sad that we do not have a Whole Foods nearby. That store is so awesome. They have these bins where you can grind your own nut butters, almond, cashew, peanut, you name it. The cheeses, OMG the cheeses! They were so beautiful and tasty (lots of samples). I think you could just go to Whole Foods and hang out all day eating and drinking (they have wine samples too). Unfortunately we didn't have all day, but the time we spent was great. I made my own trail mix it was yummy (crystalized ginger, m&ms, raisins, cranberrys, banannas, coconut, and peanuts), I bought some french cookies (six for 150 cals), some ginger snaps and a bar of soap and some natural hand sanitizer. After a nice swim, it was steaks for dinner. This morning we all went out to breakfast before we said our goodbyes. It was a great visit overall.
Computer Saved:
Last week, I had a couple mishaps, as you know, I burned up Emily's lunch box with my burner snafu, well this week, by beloved pink computer got an unwelcome shower. I set a glass of water next to my computer (bad idea). David was coming through the living room and tripped on the cord for my computer. An entire glass of water splashed all over my computer. After we cleaned up the water, my computer would not come on (horrors), we took the battery out and tried to let it dry. By the time we left for Austin, still no computer, I just knew I would have to buy a new computer. But HOOORAAAY, when we got back, the computer LIVES!!! I am typing on it now :)
Well, that is the wrap up of the last few days, sorry no pics, I forgot my phone charger so my trusty Iphone camera was no use to me.
Have a wonderful week.
Hey, what a coink, I bathed the dogs this week also. Only I bathe them outside. Use the hose with the sprayer set on sprinkle.(soft spray.) They don't mind it so much. Avoids the inevitable shake off in the house.
ReplyDeleteBought some soap????? You tradior!!!!
